Club Thrive: Predator Page 21
When he comes out we all head down to the car. I get him settled into his booster seat and Mikey puts on his favorite kids channel on XM Station. Ryker begins to sing to the song playing and Mikey pulls out of the spot to get us to the beach house we’re renting.
We pull up two hours later to find two trucks and another SUV here. The trucks belong to Jonah and Sadie, Shane and Katie, and Logan and Sky. That means we’re still waiting on Slade, Kara, Miranda, and Stone. I’m so excited, and I can tell Sky is too. She comes running out to greet us, taking Ryker from the back of the vehicle.
“Auntie Sky, I have to go potty.”
“Well, we better hurry inside then.” She runs off with him and I begin helping Mikey take the bags from the back of the car when Jonah and Logan appear.
“Let us help him with that,” Logan says, rounding the car. He laughs when he sees the bags. “I can see my wife isn’t the only one who over packed.”
“You’re all so funny. We have kids…we know what we need.” I stick my tongue out at them.
“There’s a washer inside,” Jonah adds.
“Good, you can do the laundry then.” I cross my arms over my chest waiting for another comment, but they’ve got nothing. “That’s what I thought.”
I climb the steps in search of the ladies and the kids while the three guys grab our suitcases and bring them inside.
The kids are running through the house screaming while Sky is yelling for them to calm down. “I thought this was supposed to be relaxing. What just happened?”
Both Sadie and Sky burst into laughter. “It is. They’re playing tag and just wait, Charlotte’s not here yet.”
I shake my head. “Is it time for bed yet?”
“No, it’s not.” Miranda walks in, putting Charlotte down on the floor, and she too runs off. The kids are all getting so big.
“I can’t believe how big they are.” I watch them all running through the kitchen.
“We’re hungry,” Stephan, Laney and Ryker say in unison.
“We need to wait for Auntie Kara and Uncle Slade, and then we can eat. We’ll start making something soon.” We hand them each a small bag of goldfish and tell them to relax with that. The three of them take their bags and sit on the floor in front of the TV. All is good, the adults are in the kitchen discussing lunch and dinner while we wait for Kara and Slade to arrive when suddenly Charlotte and Taylor start screaming like they just fell from the third floor. Miranda and Katie stroll into the TV room to see what is going on and a minute later they come back carrying two very upset little girls.
“What’s wrong, sweetie?” I ask Charlotte in my soft baby voice.
“They no share,” she points and says through tears.
“Oh, that’s okay. Would you like a bag of your own?” She instantly stops crying. I hand her a bag, and just like that, her drama is done, but Taylor won’t calm down. She continues sobbing in Katie’s arms until she falls asleep.
“I’m going to put her down for a nap.” She gently walks off to put her in the room that she, Charlotte, and Laney are staying in.
“This place is amazing, Logan. How did you find this place?”
“I asked around. This place has it all.” He rubs his hands together like a mad scientist. “It has this huge kitchen…” He waves his hand around the room. “With both an eat-in kitchen, as well as a dining room. There’s a huge family room with a TV, DVD, and surround sound system. There are four bedrooms on the second floor and three more on the third floor.”
“It’s perfect for all of us. We should have more vacations here,” Shane suggests.
“Let’s get through this one first,” Katie says, coming back into the room with a baby monitor in hand.
We all burst into laughter. “What’s so funny?” Kara asks, walking through the door with Slade following behind her.
Katie hugs her sister and says, “They’re discussing booking this place again for next year as Taylor is having a meltdown over goldfish.” She shakes her head. “I told them let’s see how this year goes.”
“Where is my godchild?” Kara asks.
“Sleeping, thank God. She wouldn’t nap in the car, so she’s overtired,” Shane adds.
“It’ll be fine. You’ll see.” Kara hugs Shane.
Logan walks off to show Slade where they’re staying so we can get started on lunch and our mini vacation. It’s amazing to see everyone in this one place. We’ve all vowed there will be no club talk during our few days here. We are simply going to relax and enjoy our time together as a family. It’s time we start to build some fun memories we can look back on and laugh.

About the Author
Alison Mello is a wife and stay at home mom to a wonderful little boy. She lives with her amazing family in Massachusetts. She loves playing soccer, basketball and football with her son.
After having her son, Alison started reading again and fell in love with Contemporary Romance. Reading made her happy and gave her something to do when she had downtime. As she started to read more, she started to notice things she really enjoyed in a book and things she didn’t. She began to have ideas for writing one of her own. One day she literally woke up and started writing. She realized that if there was ever a time for her to write, it was now. She had a part time job to give her something to do. The hours at work were slow and she was bored with what she was doing, so while her son was off enjoying his friends over summer vacation she got started.
Alison finished the first book in two weeks and decided that she really enjoyed writing, so she kept going. She already had ideas in mind for books two and three, so she kept writing. That is how the Learning to Love Series was born. Somewhere along the line, one of my Beta readers convinced me that Michael, a character from Finding Love, needed his own story. That is when Alison added the fourth and final book. Alison hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.
She’s so glad she started this writing journey and hopes you will stay with her for the ride. Club Thrive is scheduled to release in May and the Love Conquers Life series is available now!
